Our Legal Services at Fort Bragg in the Fayetteville, NC Area
Briefly known as Fort Liberty, Fort Bragg is the home of over 55,000 Soldiers, over 12,000 civilian employees, and too many units to name here: XVIII Airborne Corps, the 82d Airborne Division, FORSCOM, USASOC, JSOC, SFAC, and USARC. Stretching over 250 square miles across six North Carolina counties, Bragg contains everything that is good about the Army – and everything that can be frustrating about it. Mangan Law’s attorneys both proudly served as expert JAG Corps practitioners at Fort Bragg. They know how business is done in Fayetteville. Our attorneys are not just subject matter experts in military law; their network of connections at Fort Bragg is so extensive that there is a good chance they personally know the JAG attorney advising the command on your matter. While on active duty, Paul Judge fought tooth-and-nail on Fort Bragg as part of a TDS pilot program focused exclusively on trial litigation before courts-martials. The attorneys at Mangan Law fully grasp the command climate at Fort Bragg: the Airborne and Special Forces mindsets prize excellence and readiness, but sometimes at the cost of fairness and due process to Soldiers and their families. Fort Bragg, as one of FORSCOM’s premier installations, prides itself on a zero-tolerance approach to discipline and punishment. It is unfortunate, but true, that some commanders let patches and prestige cloud their judgment. Mangan Law can help protect your record of service against sloppy investigations and commanders who prioritize the harshest punishments possible without considering all the evidence.Welcome to Mangan Law, acknowledging the specific challenges encountered by the most investigated demographic in America – the honorable men and women of the United States Armed Forces. Our commitment extends to helping servicemen and women at Fort Bragg and the Fayetteville, NC Area protect their rights in every legal aspect.

ADVERSE ADMINISTRATIVE ACTIONS
Are you facing the risk of adverse administrative action at Fort Bragg? We are here to protect your rights and your interests. Our Fort Bragg military defense attorney fights to protect the rights of soldiers and Army officers. Military law allows your commander to take adverse administrative action to address certain matters of misconduct. Here is an overview of the law:
Article 15 of the Uniform Code of Military Justice (UCMJ):
Article 15 of the UCMJ authorizes commanding officers to impose non-judicial punishment (NJP) on service members for minor offenses without the need for a court-martial. The process is intended to maintain discipline and order within the military ranks in an efficient, expedient manner.
COURT-MARTIAL REPRESENTATION
A court-martial is a judicial proceeding in which members of the military are tried for violations of the Uniform Code of Military Justice (UCMJ). It functions similarly to a civilian court but is specifically designed to address military law and discipline. We handle all types of court-martial cases at Fort Bragg, including:
- General Court-Martial (GCM):
A General Court-Martial is the highest level of military court, used for the most serious offenses such as desertion, rape, and murder. It consists of a military judge and a minimum of five panel members (jury), unless the military service member requests to have their case decided only by the judge. - Special Court-Martial (SPCM):
A Special Court-Martial is a mid-level military court designed to try service members for intermediate offenses, similar to misdemeanors in civilian law. The court can include a military judge and three panel members. Penalties may include reduction in rank, forfeiture of pay, discharge, and up to one year of imprisonment. - Summary Court-Martial (SCM):
A Summary Court-Martial is used to adjudicate minor offenses committed by enlisted personnel. The proceedings are quicker and less formal than those in higher courts-martial. The court consists of a single officer who serves as judge and jury. An SCM can still impose up to 30 days of imprisonment.
